This is probably one of the most touching stories behind the scenes. You might want to get the tissues ready.

Back in 2000 and 2001, James was in contact with a lot of the active designers, checking to see who would be interested in doing a design for the project. One of his favorites has always been the Stoney Creek and Marilyn Vredeveldt. At first they balked, but then James sent his 3" thick packet of thank you letters and photos from parents and hospitals and they were sold. This lovely chart and the story were featured in the November/December 2001 magazine.

What we did not know at the time was that Marilyn herself was going through a nightmare scenario in her own family. Her son and his wife were expecting twins, but the baby girls were premature. One survived and sadly the other did not. When James heard about this, he knew he had to do something special. There were two models stitched by the Stoney Creek stitchers. The first one completed was finished into a lovely little quilt by Dale High of Pennsylvania. The second one was framed. Both were presented to the family to help ease the pain.

This beautiful design remains one of the most popular choices among the AQP stitchers even among those who do not know the story. It is available from James Farmer for a $4 Donation to the Project. Please see the Charts Page.
